Alam Shah Khan lived the story on a level of compassion

On May 17, 2020 a webinar was organized by Alam Shah Khan Yaadgaar Committee on the occasion of 17th anniversary of country's famous storywriter Alam Shah Khan. It was attended by eminent personalities of the country along with his contemporary writers, friends, and pupils. Everyone expressed their views on his personality and creativity.

In this webinar, Professor Durga Prasad Aggarwal of Jaipur, while referring to an interview with Alam Shah Khan Sahab, said that he did not write much stories despite a long period. He told that Khan Sahab lived the story on a level of compassion and then wrote it. In spite of listening to the language around him seriously, he enriched it by constructing and renovating it rather than writing it as it was. In the webinar, Professor Madhav Hada, in spite of a long period, mentioned the writing of short but important stories by Alam Shah Khan. While narrating memories of working with Kamleshwar in the Parallel Story movement, Mumbai litterateur Jitendra Bhatia said that everyone was shocked by reading so many sensitive stories of Alam Shah Khan at that time. He also underlined the authoritative experience of the script of the tele-film telecast on Doordarshan based on Alam Khan's story 'Parai Piyas Ka Safar' as well as serious discussions with Professor Saheb. He told that Alam Shah Khan wrote stories only about the lower classes and he had the expertise to tell the whole story through dialogues. In the webinar, Dr. Manju Chaturvedi spoke on the discussions of Khan Saheb with her father Nand Chaturvedi and described Khan Saheb as the guardian of the underprivileged and the leading storywriter of that period. In the webinar, Dr. Indira Jain pointing to the sufferings of the working class in the lockdown told that Prof Khan's stories will always remain relevant as long as the sufferings of the working class remain. Dr. Hemendra Paneri from Nagaur, while discussing 12 stories of Alam Shah Khan in detail, described Alam Shah Khan as a writer of sensations. Dr. Hussaini Bohra , Professor Gopal Sahar from Gujarat, Dr. Nakhat Dan Charan from Jodhpur, Mr. Bhanwar Singh Sandu , Shakeel Khan , Professor Sudha Chaudhary from Mumbai, Neha Rao from Haryana, Dr. Tabassum from Jodhpur expressed their views. A total of 52 writers and readers of his stories participated in the webinar. The technical arrangement for the webinar was done by Afshan Khan and Zaheen Khan. The webinar was moderated by the author Dr Tarana Parveen and performed the thanksgiving ceremony on behalf of the Alam Shah Yadgar Committee.


On the occasion, Dr. Himanshu Pandya went live from Facebook's Banas Jan page and gave an impressive lecture at 11:00 am on the topic "Yaadon Mein Alam Shah Khan: Memoirs and Katha Yatra"
